Chase wants to evolve their branches to places where they can have more meaningful interactions with customers than simple transactions. However, either out of habit or lack of knowledge, a surprising number of customers come into branches for things they could easily do on their phone. In 12 months, Chase wanted to reduce these transactions by 100,000,000. Yep, that many zeros.
You can tell a person that they can deposit a check with their phone, but it’s more meaningful when you show them the moment that makes it so convenient. Why go to the branch when you can spend more time with your dog, right?
